GARDEN POND FILTRATION CONCEPT:

Our garden ponds feature the Aquascape filtration system. The garden pond concept is the closest thing to mother nature. The Aquascape filtration system depends on bacteria, fish and plants to create a natural ecosystem. We have a 20-minute video that will show how the system works, the video is $10.00 and is refundable with a pond purchase.

The garden ponds that we sell are usually 2.5' deep. They have a skimmer box and a bio fall tub. The bio fall tub is the key to your filtration. The biofall is the most natural looking waterfall kit on the market today. Note: The bio fall tub can be modified to work on a true koi pond filtration system. The tub assembly has a water inlet on the bottom of the tub. The water is being pumped from the skimmer and into the bottom of the bio waterfall tub. The water rises in this tub and pores over the edge. The waterfall tub is hidden with your waterfall stone. The skimmer works like a skimmer on the side of a pool. The purpose of our skimmer is to remove all debris from the pond's surface.

The bottom of the pond is laid with river round stone. The stone in the bottom of the pond is the most natural backdrop to your fish. Lily pads are planted so they take up 70% of the water surface to help reduce algae naturally. Fish are the last item introduced to our ponds.

Goldfish are always the better choice in a garden pond because they don't grow to the same size as Koi. Koi are vegetarians and have been known to eat plants inside your pond. Depending on the size of your water garden you can still use koi.

KOI POND FILTRATION CONCEPT:

True koi ponds are a lot easier to maintain than a garden pond. The main purpose of a true koi pond is to maintain "GIN" clear water for viewing your koi. The koi in your pond is the main attraction. Our advanced filtration system combined with an ultraviolet light does the trick.

Our koi ponds are a minimum of 11'x16' with a depth of 6'. Our ponds are equipped with a bottom drain to remove all bottom debris. These ponds don't have any stone inside of pond. The black liner inside the pond will turn green with fine algae. The pond will always be kept clean using a bottom drain because the water will always be circulated from the bottom. The koi won't damage their scales inside a pond with a smooth liner. Note: Although garden ponds are natural looking, expensive koi will flash against the stone and damage their scales opening themselves up for possible

infection. The bottom drain of the pond is gravity feed into a vortex box. The vortex box grinds down all large debris. The water is still gravity feed into your trap basket, which will remove the larger debris that comes out of the vortex. The cleaner water enters the inline pump. The wonderful thing about the inline pump is it uses less energy than a garden pond pump. The inline pump doesn't have to work as hard because of its dependency on gravity.

The inline pump pushes the water into an Aquadyne Bead Filtration system. This is a state of the art filter that grinds down all particles of debris using a bead filtration technique. The pump resembles a common pool pump but will run longer with a greater debris load. When the water leaves the filter it runs into an ultraviolet light which burns algae particles. The ultraviolet light is a luxury to own and maintain. When the water leaves the ultraviolet light we run two separate lines. The first line will be used for the waterfall. The second line will enter into the pond three foot under the water level. In the winter could close the waterfall valve and run the water return inside the pond. This will help maintain a consistant water temperature.

Pond heaters are an option but it is not reflected in the base price of our ponds.

In a garden pond concept you must create a balanced ecosystem to keep the water clear. When starting a garden pond you will experience a temporary algae bloom in your pond. The temporary bloom is caused because the aquatic plants have not had time to mature and the ecosystem is not balance yet. Koi ponds are mechanically filtrating and the ultraviolet light burns the algae from the water. The koi pond's filtration is more expensive but the pond is easier to maintain. Gin clear water without the fuss.
